higgins family ready for THE BOSS

will work for money

blame it on the economy, call it desperation, perhaps it's nothing more than the need to put $10 in my pocket but i have begun creating a profile on elance.com. my hope is that i might secure a freelance writing gig here and there. i was doing some research on work at home opportunities and i saw this ad. i was intrigued... it may very well be one of those things that never amounts to anything - especially considering that i am taking the free route which only allows me to apply for three jobs per month. what the hell...it's worth a try!

unfortunately, my creative mind isn't starting off on a high note. when my profile asked me to create a business name and tagline i went completely blank. this does not bode well for a future windfall. therefore, in the spirit of collective entrepreneurship i am appealing to your creative minds to help me brainstorm. from what i can tell a lot of people use their own name as their business name. i can do that or i could also do something more creative but, again, i'm having trouble. here's what i've come up with so far:

business name: write out loud
tagline: bringing words to life

problem: 'write out loud' is the new sharpie campaign & bringing words to life is sort of like the old GE campaign 'we bring good things to life'. i would've made millions in advertising.

sadly, i thought of those on my own and was so proud. unfortunately, they must've been living in the recesses of my mind. i sought ryan's advice and he gave his stamp of approval. just as i was about to type them into my profile i thought...wait, aren't these familiar? thank goodness i checked. i don't want to start my freelance career off as a plagiarist. maybe it's not so much plagiarism as unoriginal. at any rate it's all i can come up with now. much like a song that stays with you for days, these two things are the only things that enter my brain when i go to complete my profile. so any thoughts you might have to get my juices flowing would be appreciated. i promise to cut you in on the royalties if this ever makes me famous. on the other hand...if i end up making $10 writing one snippet about a bobble head doll i promise to buy you a burger & a beer.

Okay, I'll keep at it, but here is what came to my mind so far:

Business Name: The Amorous Scribe
Tagline: Joyfully Immerse in Words

If I come up with more, will let you know. Good luck!

Also, I like "bringing words to life." It didn't remind me of the GE ad at all. Or you could rearrange it and use: "bringing life to words."

j-i love "bringing life to words"...i also love the scribe thing...maybe something is spanish...vida escribe...or something? denise?

Something in Spanish could be a pro or a con. First, you're suggesting you speak Spanish which may be desired (Pro). Second, you're suggesting that you ARE Latin which makes English a second lanuage which in turn may lead them to think the overall quality of English writing will not be top rate (Con). That's my 2 cents. I'm not able to access the company website through this ad. If it's Latin inspired goods, Spanish may be the way to go.

no...cannot speak enough spanish to be considered good. both good points. this ad is for blogging about items a woman has for sale on her website...it's a baby store so i think the items are personalized. she is doing a blog for the store and wants to say fun things about new inventory, etc.

hmmmm...i love a challenge. mine would be so easy because of my last name. i had a work email address assigned to me one time based on my first and middle initials and last name...ergo, i decided then and there that if i ever had a business, it would be called hartec. of course, it loses much appeal if not tech related...but i digress.

business name: well versed
tagline: never at a loss for words

or maybe...

business name: truly inspired
tagline: the idea is the thing

it's a start...

this is fun!

business name:
scribe it!

tagline:
i will deSCRIBE, never short of wIT!

i'm not advanced enough to do a spanish play on words, so i am not even going to attempt....
